In December 1990, leading European carpet manufacturers founded the Association for Environmentally Friendly Carpeting e.V. – GUT for short – in Aachen.

GUT: Environmental and Consumer Protection

The aim of GUT is to continuously optimize environmental and consumer protection throughout the entire life cycle of textile floor coverings – from production to installation, from use to recycling.
In cooperation with officially recognized testing institutes across Europe, we conduct regular product tests based on strict criteria. Furthermore, we promote environmentally friendly solutions for the installation of carpets and offer objective information on all questions related to carpeting. Together with our member companies, we develop concepts for the production and recycling of textile floor coverings in the spirit of a sustainable circular economy.
